Hi, I’m Zed – UK-born, Thailand-based for over 20 years, and the solo rider behind motogirlthailand.com.
After years of semi-nomadic living, I settled in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand – the longest I’ve ever stayed in one place. I started exploring the region by bicycle in the early 2000s with nothing but a map, a notebook, and a compass.
This website is the result of decades of research, riding, and getting lost in the best possible way.
Early 2000s — Bicycle Explorer
Began exploring Northern Thailand by bicycle with just a map and compass.
2010 — The 115cc Scooter
Self-taught on an automatic scooter, then bought a 115cc to ride further afield.
2011 — The Accident That Changed Everything
A serious scooter accident caused me to rethink. Recovered, relearned, came back stronger.
2015–Present – Bought a Manual Motorcycle
Covered tracks, discovered incredible undocumented routes and places of interest, and began to ride overland into neighbouring countries.
